Why use concrete for my next home project needs?
Concrete is a critically important component of any structure. Concrete is the composite material makeup of aggregate being embedded in cement which fills the space between the filler particles and binds/glues them together. During the curing process concrete becomes an extremely strong building material and with our standard use of 4,500 psi you can expect your new project to be maintenance free for a long duration of time. Exposed concrete is subject to harsher elements and the everyday abuse that it was created to withstand. Therefore, concrete becomes a significant component of a property owner's total investment. It is for this reason a reputable contractor with years of experience should be consulted before you start your next concrete project.
What are your standard thickness parameters for the slab and base material?
We use a concrete mixture from the mixing plant that has a strength of 4,500 psi on a solid gravel base. We follow industry standard of a 4 inch thick slab over a 3 inch solid gravel base. It is also important to understand that we always check for and abide by local codes and building regulations. In some instances, typically in an industrial environment, it becomes recommended the slabs thickness is increased to 6 inches to handle the increased weight.
How do you reinforce concrete?
There are 3 primary means of reinforcement dependent on the final product:
2) Wire mesh also known as rewire
3) Fiber - Fibers are small pieces of fiberglass added at the mixing plant that bind the materials together.
Why concrete over asphalt?
Unless otherwise specified an asphalt driveway is installed at a 2 inch thickness with little to no handcrafted workmanship. From a cost standpoint a 4 inch thick asphalt driveway will be a near cost equivalent to concrete. Additionally, asphalt driveways require annual maintenance with an asphalt sealant and are known to have a shorter lifespan in comparison to concretes low maintenance long life properties.
What type of concrete service does your company offer?
Exterior: Concrete Driveways, Concrete Walkways, Concrete Patios, Colored Concrete, Decorative Engraving, Concrete Resurfacing, Stamped Concrete, Exposed Aggregate Concrete.
Interior: Interior Flooring, Concrete Coloring, Concrete Resurfacing and Textured Finishes.
Do you solve water problems?
Yes, we have the ability to solve drainage issues, improper grading, leaking basements and improper concrete installation, or a combination of these.
Can your company fix cracks in existing concrete?
There are several products that claim to solve these problems, however our expert opinion is that if cracks are a quarter to half inch or larger the cause is normally a result of a lack of reinforcement or other structural damage. In these cases we suggest excavation of the damaged area and replacement with new, properly reinforced concrete.
